Practice Session February 28th 2016

With the amount of traveling I’m doing this year it’s been imperative to find a practice routine that works both at home and on the road. I’m going to be posting a series of these videos so you can see behind the scenes of how practicing during an intense work schedule works! Never before has technology been so immense that it’s able to capture high quality video and audio with very little equipment. So I’m psyched to be able to travel with a Zoom H6 and my iPhone 6s and capture both high quality audio and video from the most unlikely places on the planet.

Aguilar Artist Loft Clinic Part 4

In February of 2014 I was fortunate enough to be invited to New York to give a clinic at the new Aguilar artist loft. I took my good friends Mike Stern and Cliff Almond with me to play some music and answer some questions, and of course was running my gopro for the session so you can check out the entire clinic! This is split up into four parts so be sure to check them all out.

Practice Session May 4th 2015

I threw the camera up while I was working on some 8th note time and sound things. The bass line is completely random walking in 4 that I recorded into the looper, and the soloing doesn’t have any set harmonic structure. I’m looking for ideas, developing them as far as I can, and then moving onto the next one. This is a few minutes from a 3 hr practice session just to give you an idea of what I’m working on on a daily basis.

So as we wind down towards the end of the Chords and Reharm course I want to give you a little look inside what’s coming up next! Bebop vocabulary was such a close second in the last survey I sent out that we simply couldn’t ignore it as a topic for a course on the site. I’ve been working overtime putting all the components together and this video gives you a little preview of what’s to come.
